Freddy Martin
Freddy Martin Freddy Martin

: Frederick Alfred (Freddy) Martin (December 9, 1906 - September 30, 1983) was a bandleader and saxophonist U.S. citizenship.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, grew up in an orphanage and several relatives. Martin began playing the drums, later moving to the saxophone, eventually specializing in the tenor saxophone, the instrument by which would be identified. At first he wanted to be a journalist, and hoped to earn enough money from his musical work to enter Ohio State University. However, over being a gifted musician, leading his own band while attending high school and playing in several local bands. After playing in the band of a ship, Martin joined the Mason-Dixon band, then playing for Arnold Johnson and Jack Albin. It was in the formation of Albin "Hotel Pennsylvania Music" when he made his first recordings for Columbia Records labels Harmony, Velvet Tone Records and Clarion in 1930.

After a couple of years, his skills began to attract attention from other musicians. One was Guy Lombardo, who struck up a lifelong friendship with Martin. One night Martin replaced Lombardo, unable to fulfill a commitment it artistic, being the performance that marked the real start of the race Martin. However, the band broke up, and did not have a permanent group until 1931, at the Hotel Bossert in Brooklyn. Bossert
The Marine Room, Martin was a pioneer of the style "Tenor Band", which swept the music industry at the moment. With its own melodic tenor sax as a leader, Martin led a tenor sax section with only two brass instruments and a trio of violin, percussion apart. Its rich and rhythmic style quickly gained followers in dance halls and hotels across the nation. The Tenor bands, usually with only three tenors and a trumpet, could still be heard occasionally hasta bien entrada la década de 1980.
Martin recorded the instrumental piece, but soon added lyrics to receive the title "Tonight We Love" and being played by Clyde Rogers. The success of "Tonight We Love" made Martin adapted other classics, in which played the band's pianist Jack Fina, Arnold Murray and Barclay Allen. At that time, Martin expanded the orchestra to a total of six violins, four brass instruments and an equal number of saxophones.
Freddy Martin was nicknamed "Mr. Silvertone" by saxophonist Johnny Hodges. Chu Berry said saxophonist Freddy Martin was his favorite. Many saxophonists also admired him, including Eddie Miller. Although his performance was admired by many jazz musicians, Freddy Martin never intended to be a jazz musician, and his style was that of a sweet band. Unlike most groups of this style, the formation of Martin was one of the most musical and melodic.
Martin also had a good ear for singers. Throughout his career, Martin used to Merv Griffin, Buddy Clark, the pianist Sid Appleman and Terry Shand, Elmer Feldkamp saxophonist, singer Stuart Wade (singer Highlights), the violinist Eddie Stone and many others. Singer Helen Martin Ward was just before the new act to Benny Goodman band.
Martin's popularity as a leader the band led him to Hollywood in the 1940's, appearing with his training in several films, including Seven Days' Leave (1942), Stage Door Canteen (1943) and Melody Time (1948).
In the 1950 and 1960, Martin continued performing on radio and on television. Unaffected by changes in musical tastes, he continued working in large venues and was musical director at the first performance of Elvis Presley in Las Vegas. Still applied in the hotel circuit, Martin entered the decade of 1970 with a commitment to the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. In the early seventies was part of two tours known as The Big Band Cavalcade. Among other artists in these shows included Margaret Whiting, Bob Crosby, Frankie Carle, Buddy Morrow, Art Mooney and George Shearing. Upon conclusion of the tour, Martin returned to the West Coast, and in 1977 was asked to direct the Guy Lombardo band when he was hospitalized for a heart condition.
Martin continued leading his band until the early 1980's, although by then was already semiretired. Freddy Martin died on September 20, 1983 at a hospital in Newport Beach, California, after a long illness. He was 76 years old. He was buried at Pacific View Memorial Park Cemetery in the neighborhood of Corona del Mar, in Newport Beach.
On the album, Martin was awarded a star on the Walk of Fame Hollywood, 6532 Hollywood Blvd. Wikipedia and Tango and their guests

Eduardo Eddie Little Ones Armani

Eduardo Eduardo Armani Armani: a character. A box of paints and impressive talent. His father was opera singer of Columbus and he walked between brushes and easels, because it could be a great painter and attended the Petorutti friendship, Xul Solar and Spilimbergo. Also born and raised in Corrientes and Parana and had childhood escapades of fellow Juan José Castro and Astor brothers, Ennio and Remo Bolognini that would be high-level musicians. Finally decided by this branch of art, very young man joined the orchestras of Columbus and the first Symphony of the country. As a soloist accompanied Isadora Duncan in the Opera and the company of Madame Rasimi - where he played the revered Misntiguette - with the Follies Bergere, Moulin Rouge, and the Casino de Paris in the twenties. Also accompanied Anna Pavlova in the Coliseum and the Russian would take a tour through the continent. In the early 20 also roamed the jazz but strongly emphasized in the tango. Recorded in the RCA Orchestra directed Adolfo Carabelli and reinforced joint like Francisco Lomuto or Juan Carlos Cobian on the disk. It was a close friend of Gardel, who ate
times, and he congratulated him on his tango Normiña (Norminha) who had received the 2 nd prize in a competition at the Grand Splendid and Eduardo had dedicated to a girl who won in Brazil. As it had no lyrics, Gardel took it to Antonio Capone, Tabarís goalkeeper, who made immediately Morocho and recorded it on Christmas Eve 1926. At the request of Canaro, who claimed material, composed about 20 tangos. Armani-founded the orchestra Cospito (other than recorded tangos as Don Goyo) and then had his own jazz singer Helen Jackson said in aristocratic environments or dance club packs or Gimnasia y Esgrima Italian, with his partner Osvaldo Fresedo Rendez Vous in the night club. Signed joint that came to Colombia as a great success: "Santa Marta, Santa Marta, you train, but no tram. / If not for the area, heck, Santa Marta die, ay .. Ombe. What better note to tell the intimate relationship of the Jazz Orchestra and the Orchestra of tango in their live performances in the decades from 30 to 60, that the story of someone who lived and is not counted: José Pedro Aresi.
This is a "curro" made not only by me. I had a little help, but this "niorse" provided very strong, because in 2002 their neurons were much more active.
Today, with regret, I dedicate this paper to the memory of "cofla" Paroni which was one day, before I found out .. flower laburante and great friend, the skinny!

So REMEMBER, this is the best way to forget.
forties, the tango and jazz summit there near. Before turning to the places where people stretch the legs, let me say without blushing that "The milonga is a disease we made at the corner of the neighborhood and that never heals."
I think I see the lights of Velez Sarsfield Atlanta, San Lorenzo, the "Sportivo Buenos Aires", Estrella de Maldonado, Social Villa Crespo, Premier (initially called Chiqué), the "West" Avenida Juan B. Alberdi, Hurricane, Villa Malcolm, Flores Arising, Villa Zahora, Palace Rivadavia, Independiente (Avellaneda and its subsidiary Flores). the Social Rivadavia, the Ideal Club Villa Lugano, "Brisas" and "Brightness" of Citadel Communications, the Four F, Pinocchio, Glorias Argentinas, José Hernández and many other clubs racing halls of fame of Argentina, Rodriguez Peña Unione et Benevolenza, the "Catedral del Tango", Palermo Palace, The Arbor, Parque Retiro, Palacio de las Flores and others - as in the case of clubs - are left in an ink that has lost its magic and watering ..
"Confectionery" or something similar, as the Nobel Lavalle, My Club (Suipacha reaching Tucuman, which existed until very recently), Sans Souci, Picadilly, Les Ambasadeur, Maracaibo and cabarets "PULENTA" which we cherish our nostalgia as Marabou, Royal Pigall, Tabarís, Tibidabo, Chantecler, Casanova, Maipú Pigalle and other "Mishi" as the airplane, Boston, California Heaven, Odeon, Eden, Charleston and many others who crouched escape from my memory. That chop boys that chop!.
addition to some dances to "Selected Recordings" not missing, salt and pepper the put the tango orchestras and jazz that inspired the dance major, generally acting in "pairs classic" I try to join in this parade pleasant reminiscences of a youth who enjoy "wildly."
For reasons of "old" start naming Francisco Canaro with Feliciano Brunelli - Hector Anibal Troilo Lomuto or Hawaiian Serenaders who ran Osvaldo Novarro - D'Arienzo with Varelita Varela - Osvaldo Pugliese with Turkish Ratip Ahmed and his Cotton Pickers - Ricardo Tanturi with Santa Paula Serenaders - Alfredo D'Angelis with Barry Moral - Osvaldo Eduardo Fresedo with Armani, which in turn were partners in the "bowling" Rendez Vois.
I need to remind the teams of Di Sarli, Angel D'Agostino, Alfredo Gobbi, Miguel Caló, Horacio Salgán and Alberto Castillo, with his own orchestra, he split from Tanturi. I assume that is a pending matter, but yet I dare say that would be hovering around these shared activities: Oscar German, Panchito Cao, Ken Hamilton, René Cospito, trumpeter Stephen. with the Savoy Jazz, Santa Anita (Rhythm of the Soul), and the San Francisco Jazz.

What more can I say?.

Much, if not because the ideas are confused and voices from the past come to mind so, nostalgia and wrapped in the mists of time. Is the price that kills us for allowing us to go through it, much longer than expected.

If I seem to be living up to that time lived on 10 March 1951, when a "Sardinian" short hair screamed, "Soldier José Pedro Aresi - Class 1930 - Registration 4499199 ... ... to which I answered proud .... Presente!.
